Am I doing too
much?
Ask yourself this question
today, are you busy doing so many things that you no longer take time to enter into His presence, to enjoy the Master’s
loving touch, and to hear His voice. Are you too busy doing church work, that
you no longer take time to allow the Holy Spirit to minister to your weary soul and bring you comfort when you need it the
most? Where are your priorities, is it pleasing God by doing the things that
He desires, or have you become entangled with the cares of this world until you no longer have clarity of the vision that
was given to you. Have you left your first love and found a substitute of fulfilling
a duty and calling, rather than sitting at Jesus feet, to hear his Word as Martha did in Luke 10:38-42.
Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered
into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath
left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered
and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and
Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Don’t make the mistake of doing too much, that you no longer
have time for God, yourself and your immediate family. Set your priorities in
order, there is a time for everything under the sun. (Eccl 3:1) To every thing there is
a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Start your day with
prayer and thanksgiving, before you rush into the affairs of this life and the cares of this world. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance each morning before the day begins.
(Prov 3:6) In all thy ways acknowledge
him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Slow down, for the race isn’t given to the person who runs
fast, but runs well and crosses the finish line. Don’t allow the enemy
to put you on a detour from the path that God has set before you, stay the course. This
is a narrow road, and few that will find it and continue to the destination that God has planned for them. If you’re carrying too much baggage, it’s going to wear you out and slow you down. Get rid of those things and let go of people that are hindering you, or sabotaging your time and efforts. Set your priorities in order so that you can be blessed in mind, body and spirit and
then you can be a blessing to others.
